Some birds are not meant to be caged, that’s all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.
– Shawshank Redemption
Using this poem from movie Udaan again to express the idea and thought behind the picture.
This little girl – daughter of Balloon vendor on Carter road, Bandra radiates with beautiful smile against all odds. Everytime I look at this picture I am reminded of wonderful song by Eagles for I don’t know why !!
I was standing all alone against the world outside. You were searching for a place to hide. Lost and lonely, now you’ve given me the will to survive. When we’re hungry, Love will keep us alive.
And the quest continues as you seek !! You seek love, meaning, serendipity, knowledge, happiness. And as they say, no matter what you get, what you achieve, there is always something left to be done. And that’s life.
“You broke the bonds and you
Loosed the chains
Carried the cross
Of my shame
Of my shame
You know I believed it”
Bombay rains while driving through the streets.
I have been away from camera for quite some time now which induced this hiatus and I don’t know for how long this will continue. Nevertheless, its always great to drop in here once in a while, look at all those wonderful photo and travel blogs and go back inspired. Stories behind pictures and journey is what draws us to people and places and I am not an exception.
At every stage of our life we find ourself close to certain thoughts and here is one such thought which is changing me with every passing day. For good I hope !!
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common–this is my symphony.
– William Henry Channing
The wordpress is asking to post a photo for Illumination this time for its new weekly photo challenge.
“Lights are functional — everyday objects in our rooms and on our streets. Yet lights can be powerful symbols: signs of life, curiosity, and discovery.”
This photo is my interpretation for the theme which also means its a sign of divinity and spirituality. The photo was taken on last Christmas at Bandra’s St Peters church, Mumbai.
